A design software company hiring a senior finance manager to own a single view of multi-quarter AI compute commitments signals that AI infrastructure has become a major, margin- and cash-flow-defining cost line for consumer and prosumer software, not just an engineering concern.
Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hello, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our global HQ is in Sydney, Australia, and as we continue to grow in our largest global market, we’ve made our way from down under to San Francisco.
Our Jackson Square campus blends the neighborhood’s vibrant downtown charm with Canva’s signature flair. The space is designed for both deep work and collaboration, along with spaces for Canvanauts to relax, recharge, and connect. We offer flexibility in how and where you work. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
Commitments are getting larger and more complex as AI workloads scale, new providers land and negotiation cycles come up almost every quarter. This role owns the single Finance view of that portfolio and of the capacity behind it: what we have committed to, how fast we are using it, where we can flex down, and what it does to margin and free cash flow. You'll sit alongside the hosting and Product & GenAI finance teams, owning the cross cutting view that both lean on, and partnering with Accounting on how shortfalls and prepayments land in the P&L. Your work gives the CFO and our business partners confidence in how much we commit, how much we use and where we can flex. If you enjoy turning contract terms and utilisation data into decisions, and you're happy to challenge a demand forecast with evidence, this role is for you.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
You're probably a match if
We're looking for someone who gets excited by contracts, data and finance in equal measure. You read a commitment term sheet and see the ramp, the shortfall and the flex. You're the kind of person who spots the gap between committed and used before anyone else does, and who can explain a trade-off to a non-finance leader in plain language. You've operated in an FP&A function or similar, so the rhythm of monthly close, quarterly forecasting and planning cycles feels familiar. On top of that, you'll bring:
About the team
FP&A is a force multiplier, accelerating Canva's journey on its 2-step plan! Step One, to become one of the world's most valuable companies; and Step Two, to do the most good we can! Working closely with Business Leaders across the entire company, we bring our financial expertise to bear, enabling strategic decision making that drives topline growth, plotting the path from goals to execution through financial planning, driving financial rigour and prudent investment, delivering key insights that lead to meaningful action, and increasing the efficiency of our operations. FP&A is on a journey to deliver a step-change in financial sophistication and rigour that will drive Canva's growth!
Tech & Product Finance owns the economics of Canva's technical engine, the infrastructure, cloud, compute, GPU and AI investments that power our products and increasingly define our cost base and margin profile. As Canva becomes an AI-native company, these are the fastest-growing and most strategically important lines on the P&L. Within that, Product Finance owns the view of how Canva's products and markets make money. We turn the cost base into gross margin by product and profitability by region, so leaders can see which products, features and markets earn their place and which don't. We partner closely with Product leaders, Technology leaders, and the GTM and International FP&A teams, and with the CFO on the decisions that shape our margin.
