HR Generalist
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Position Overview
We're partnering with a global automotive manufacturing organization near Birmingham, Alabama, looking for an HR Generalist to join their team! This role will be heavily recruiting-focused initially, giving you the opportunity to learn the business, build relationships throughout the manufacturing operation, and become a trusted partner to hiring managers and HR leadership. We're looking for someone who brings a strong HR generalist foundation and manufacturing experience, along with solid recruiting skills and the ability to be hands-on with Talent Acquisition. As you become established in the business, there will be opportunities to take on broader HR responsibilities and continue growing within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full life cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
- Partner with hiring managers and HR to understand staffing needs and identify qualified candidates.
- Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines and professional relationships.
- Use sourcing platforms and recruiting tools to identify and engage candidates.
- Facilitate reference checks, pre-employment screenings, and offer negotiations.
- Build strong working relationships with teams throughout the manufacturing operation, including production and quality.
- Serve as a recruiting partner and resource to hiring managers and HR.
- Support employee relations, performance management, investigations, corrective action, and other day-to-day HR matters.
- Support HR compliance and employment practices, including employment eligibility and work authorization processes.
- Track and work toward key recruiting metrics, including time to fill, quality of hire, and offer acceptance.
- Learn the business and manufacturing operation with the opportunity to take on broader HR responsibilities over time.
Key Qualifications / Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of Human Resources and recruiting experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong HR generalist foundation with experience supporting employee relations, performance management, investigations, corrective action, and compliance.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR regulations, including NLRB and EEOC.
- Experience with employment eligibility and immigration-related processes, including I-9s, E-Verify, work authorization, and/or visa-related matters.
- Hands-on experience using sourcing platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, or similar systems.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with both HR and manufacturing teams.
