Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, has an immediate opening for a Pricing Operations Supervisor.
While we have a preference for someone West Coast based, we are considering candidates in any of our U.S. offices including Century City, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, San Diego (Del Mar), San Diego (Downtown), San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC. There is only one opening.
Job Summary:
The Pricing Operations Supervisor is a hands-on role responsible for accurate, timely data entry and maintenance of pricing and billing-related information across firm systems. This position will also serve as the day-to-day lead for a four-person data entry team - coordinating workload, communicating status updates, and serving as a first-line resource for questions and troubleshooting. The role partners closely with the Pricing Team, Firm Management, and other key stakeholders to support matter intake changes, rate and discount maintenance, budget setup and alerting, and related reporting support.
Essential Functions:
Perform and oversee data entry for new matter budgets and alerts in pricing/budgeting systems.
Process rate-related updates and entries, including responding to alerts, running reports, and validating rate setup.
Support creation and maintenance of phase/task codes and code sets, including client/matter application and documentation/instructions.
Maintain tier discount tracking tools and alerts; validate current fees against discount tiers and implement discount changes/maintenance.
Support year-end and other periodic rate adjustment processes, including data entry of approved changes.
Assist with intake processing, including change intake forms and validation of change and new matter intakes; perform mass edits when needed.
Keep stakeholders informed through clear status updates, issue-spotting, and proactive communication regarding workload and timelines.
Contribute to continuous improvement of data entry processes, templates, checklists, and documentation to drive quality and consistency.
Required Qualifications:
Prior experience in legal professional services performing high-volume data entry and quality control (minimum 3 years).
Demonstrated ability to lead day-to-day work of a small team, including prioritization, follow-through, and clear communication.
Strong attention to detail, comfort working across multiple systems, and ability to manage repetitive tasks without loss of accuracy.
Strong organization skills; ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain tracking mechanisms.
Professional communication skills and confidence interacting with internal stakeholders (e.g., Pricing, Billing, and Attorneys/Partners as needed).
Education:
Bachelor's degree Preferred.
Computer/Software Knowledge
Required: Advanced proficiency with Excel and legal financial systems (Aderant, Elite, etc.).
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional indoor office environment.
You will be based in one of our local Sheppard Mullin offices with the flexibility to work from home, and you are required to come into the office on an as-needed basis.
After-hours and weekend work may be required on occasion based on workload demands.
California: The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year.
Illinois: The salary range for this position is: $90,000 - $120,000 per year. This position is eligible for bonuses. This position is also eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance. Please note that the foregoing compensation and benefit information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to Illinois Equal Pay Act.
Washington DC: The pay range for this position is: $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Medical, vision, and dental coverage is available, including coverage for dependents and domestic partners. Please note that the foregoing compensation and benefit information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position as of the time of this posting and is provided pursuant to the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023.
New York: The pay range for this position is: $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
