Why this role is notable
A Big Four firm running a London-based US tax internship, with relocation and visas covered, shows how cross-border tax expertise is being staffed through expatriate pipelines rather than local hiring, which is a quieter story about where US tax talent is concentrated.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within Deloitte‘s market leading US Business Tax group. As an intern, you will gain exposure to an unrivalled client portfolio of multinational companies and a variety of tax work, including compliance and consulting projects.
Working in Deloitte's US Business Tax group provides US tax professionals with a unique opportunity to live and work in London. This has resulted in a close community spirit making the team a fun and supportive work environment.
The internship has a duration of 13 weeks with both a spring and summer intake. The internship is based in Deloitte’s central London office. Relocation costs, including airfare, visa expenses and housing, will be covered by us for the duration of the program.

Connect to your opportunity
The US Business Tax group at Deloitte LLP in London is the largest US tax practice outside the United States, consisting of 200+ professionals. We provide comprehensive US tax consulting and compliance services to clients in the US and internationally.
Our clients include US and foreign multinational organizations. The team is organized into five specialized service offerings: real asset; private equity funds; corporate and international reporting; credit, alternative and hedge funds; and transactions and advisory services. During the internship, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to these areas and explore where your interests lie.
Team members gain exposure to an unrivalled client portfolio and a variety of tax work. The US Business Tax group also interacts with other tax groups on a daily basis providing exposure to European tax laws and issues.
The internship is a three-month paid position in the US Business Tax group with Deloitte LLP in London. It provides a clear path to a full-time position as an analyst within the group. The spring internship typically runs from mid-January through mid-April, which covers our traditional tax busy season. The summer internship runs from mid-May to mid-August, which is also a busy period for the group.
Responsibilities:
As an intern, each student performs work similar to that of a first-year analyst. This work can include preparing tax return workpapers, identifying and researching tax issues, using specialist software to prepare tax returns, supporting the team with other engagement-related tasks. During busy season, the focus is primarily on the compliance aspect of tax work (specifically tax return preparation), but there may also be opportunities to assist with consulting.
Application Process:
- Application Window Opens: from November 2nd, 2026 through December 31st, 2026
- Interviews: held on a rolling basis [AK1.1][AE1.2]
- Offers Extended: on a rolling basis during January and February 2027
Requirements: submit both your CV and a cover letter with your application. We encourage candidates to apply early as spaces are limited to 12 and 6 intakes for the spring and summer, respectively.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
The internship is intended for candidates who are pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in accounting, taxation, or law and who plan to obtain a CPA qualification or bar certification after graduation. [AK2.1][AE2.2] We have accepted candidates for internship positions at various stages of their educational career. Most applicants are typically within one year of completing undergraduate studies; however, we have also had past interns who join us having already completed their postgraduate studies.
We strongly prefer candidates who have a specific interest in tax and who are willing to seriously consider living in the UK to begin their career on a full-time basis following a successful internship. Students that enjoy tackling problems in a team-oriented, high-performance environment will find this opportunity a rewarding experience. We strive for diversity; all are welcome to apply, and we provide sponsorship to work in the UK.
Experience a new perspective and gain valuable real-world experience to widen your horizons while developing your professional skill set. We will support your study as you work on a variety of US tax services across different industries.
