Position Overview
We are seeking an Of Counsel with a minimum of 10+ years of tort and insurance defense litigation experience. Based in our Battery Park office, this role offers immediate client contact and responsibility, with opportunities to work on complex litigation matters. We are seeking senior associates with diverse backgrounds to strengthen our team.
Job Duties:
- Take and defend depositions, conduct oral arguments, attend court conferences, and handle hearings in state and federal courts.
- Develop and execute litigation strategy, including early case assessment, risk analysis, and resolution planning.
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions, appeals, and complex legal memoranda.
- Collaborate with partners and colleagues to develop case strategies and deliver exceptional client service.
- Manage all phases of discovery, including electronic discovery and expert witness strategy.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, responsiveness, and client service while effectively managing multiple high-priority matters.
- Respond to catastrophic events, meeting with clients and develop litigation defenses.
- Mentor and supervise junior associates, providing guidance on litigation strategy, legal writing, and professional development.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Admission to the New York Bar required; New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.
- 10+ years of litigation experience, with emphasis on tort/insurance defense and property damage claims.
- Extensive experience handling depositions, court appearances, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and client counseling.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex, high-value litigation through all phases, including trial preparation and resolution.
- Outstanding organizational, project management, and client relationship management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package and a collaborative, friendly environment. The salary range for this role is $160,000-$200,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
