The American Express Talent Operations Team is a key function within the Colleague Services that is authorized to conduct and oversee the background verification and employment eligibility process. The information obtained through the background verification process assists American Express in making sound hiring decisions that ultimately protect the Company’s reputation and assets, promotes a safe work environment for employees and ensures high standards of integrity and performance. The Talent Operations Team is responsible for interpreting background check records and associated information in order to determine the eligibility of employment at American Express as well as ensuring each employee has provided the necessary employment authorization documentation to comply with applicable federal laws.
This position – Talent Operations Specialist – APAC (Japanese Speaker) will be based out to KL, Malaysia report to the Talent Operations Analyst – APAC. The individual will work with local and regional market teams across these regions to ensure processes starting from post verbal offer to Day 1 onboarding are compliant with both the local and regional standards established by American Express and local authorities.
Manage end-to-end post-offer processes, managing background verification process ensuring a seamless transition into onboarding/Day 1 and delivering a best-in-class candidate and colleague experience.
Proactively monitor relevant Recruitment Operations shared inbox and respond to queries received from candidates
Ensure adherence to defined SLAs, metrics, and key deliverables, driving operational excellence
Develop a deep understanding of market nuances and complexities across 12 APAC markets; proactively identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual processes
Drive process excellence by challenging the status quo and identifying opportunities for process re-engineering, automation, and efficiency gains.
Partner with Talent Acquisition and cross-functional teams (CEG, CLR, ICSP, CTRW, ELG) to ensure all post-offer processes are fully compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Support Recruitment Operations activities across regions as needed, ensuring global consistency and collaboration.
Provide Cross team support to Background verification team in managing background verification process as ad-hoc support, participate in Project marketplace or any ad-hoc projects throughout the year
Support the Talent Operations Team leader and Manager in executing process improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in Japanese (N2 or higher) and English. Detail orientation and critical thinking are key requirements to this position.
Min overall 3+ years of work experience. Prior experience in HR operations or Recruitment function will be preferred.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments with effective resolution of conflicting priorities in a timely manner. Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
Adapts quickly to changing work environment with ability to absorb additional responsibilities
Being responsive and communicate clearly and transparently.
Experience with Microsoft Office Tools, ORC and ability to learn new AI tools as needed
Experience in managing tight deadlines, with multiple SLAs
This is a hybrid role which requires 3 days to be onsite
