Senior Application Manager - West Africa

The senior application manager is responsible for leading the team of our local application lab in Nigeria (Lagos), as well as coordinating customer projects and acting as the technical key contact for our customers in the area.

Within the role you will be responsible for managing a successful team, developing and training individuals, fostering relationships with sales, customers and team members.

You:

• Lead and develop a local and regional product portfolio, aligned with ADM Nutrition’s strategic priorities and customer needs.
• Act as a trusted technical partner to customers and the commercial team, providing expert guidance on beverage formulation, application development, and manufacturing processes.
• Support regional business development, particularly in West Africa, by translating market opportunities into technically robust and commercially viable solutions.
• Oversee and coordinate end‑to‑end customer development projects, from concept creation and laboratory development through to industrial trials and manufacturing implementation.
• Drive cross‑functional collaboration across Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, Regulatory, as well as with Development Headquarters and EMEA application labs, ensuring alignment and speed of execution.
• Set clear priorities and resource allocation, enabling effective execution while balancing technical excellence with business impact.
• Build, lead, and coach the team, fostering ownership, capability development, and a strong customer‑centric mindset, while acting as a technical mentor internally and externally.

You have

• BS Degree or MS Degree in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry or Pharmacist
• a minimum of 5 years’ experience in food and beverage industry
• a strong background and experience in product development and application of beverage
• beverage manufacturing experience
• excellent project management skills
• the ability to think about, assess and shape the future of individuals, teams and the organization; you understand how an organization needs to change in the face of internal and external trends and influences; you develop with others a shared long-term vision for the organization; you advocate for action to achieve long-term goals and influence others to make the vision a reality
• Fluent in English and experienced in supporting customers across West Africa, with understanding of the cultural and linguistic diversity of the region. French would be advantageous.
• strong communication skills
• solid PC skills and affinity with IT tools (SAP and Salesforce)
• strong knowledge in Africa regulatory environment
• Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to travel extensively as required to support customers, projects, and business objectives across the region.
