Snowflake is standing up a dedicated engineering function to migrate customers onto AI-driven workflows, suggesting it sees AI migration as a bounded, staffed service it expects to sell at scale rather than a side task for existing engineers.
At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Snowflake is about empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential — and people too. With a culture that's all in on impact, innovation, and collaboration, Snowflake is the sweet spot for building big, moving fast, and taking technology — and careers — to the next level.
Snowflake redefined the data landscape over a decade ago, and our biggest opportunity is also our customers' biggest challenge: migration. For every enterprise ready to harness the AI Data Cloud, there is a complex web of legacy systems that can take years and millions of dollars to untangle. We believe generative AI is the key. We are building products that don't just move data, but understand and rewrite the logic of entire data applications.
We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager, AI Migrations (Forward Deployed) to work at the intersection of customer delivery and product engineering. In this hybrid role, you will lead a team of Forward Deployed Engineers who work directly with customers and partners on complex migrations, while also driving the development of AI-powered migration tools and products. Your team will be the bridge between field realities and product innovation, turning hard-won migration patterns into scalable, automated solutions.
Lead and develop the team
Manage and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, giving clear feedback and building growth paths
Recruit, hire and onboard engineers who can succeed in both customer delivery and engineering
Grow technical delivery leads and engineering leaders, including staff-level engineers
Foster a culture of creativity, innovation and practical decision-making
Deliver customer migrations
Lead complex migrations from legacy platforms such as Oracle, Teradata, Netezza and SQL Server to Snowflake
Provide strategic oversight so projects align with customer objectives and Snowflake's goals
Act as the primary escalation point for delivery, working closely with customers and system integrators
Stay hands-on in strategic projects to assess quality and unblock teams
Partner with sales teams to scope opportunities, estimate effort, develop proposals and support account strategy
Build AI-powered migration products
Drive the design, development and iteration of AI-powered migration tools based on real customer needs
Guide the team in building AI-first products, including code translation, developer co-pilots and semantic validation
Turn field insights into engineering roadmap items and product improvements
Partner with Engineering and Product Management to align priorities and deliver high-quality solutions
Develop and share best practices, utilities and accelerators that speed up migrations and feed back into the product
Drive cross-functional impact
Influence go-to-market strategy and lead improvements across Sales and Engineering
Encourage knowledge sharing between field engineers and product engineering teams
Present migration strategy, product vision and business outcomes to technical and executive audiences
A university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in technical roles spanning customer-facing delivery and engineering
5+ years of people management experience, mentoring and developing technical teams
3+ years of experience building and delivering enterprise software products, ideally involving AI/ML or developer tools
A proven track record of leading teams through complex data platform migrations and cloud transformations
A strong foundation in databases, data warehousing and data processing, with hands-on experience on large-scale systems such as Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, Greenplum or Hadoop
A deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and the full data analytics stack, including ETL, data platform design and BI
Extensive hands-on expertise in SQL and scripting (Python, Perl or Bash)
Experience scoping engagements, including delivery estimates, proposals and project plans
The flexibility to step into product manager, program manager or architect roles when needed
Excellent presentation skills for technical and executive audiences
Experience with data integration and transformation tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Talend, Matillion or dbt
Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy or Business Objects
Experience building GenAI-powered developer tools, such as code translation or co-pilots
