Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its insurance litigation team. This position is open to our Downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, San Diego (Downtown), Del Mar, or San Francisco offices.
With more than 40 attorneys located across five offices, Sheppard boasts one of the largest insurance practice groups in California, representing many of the nation’s largest insurers. The Insurance Litigation group represents many of the nation’s largest insurers in complex, high-stakes litigation across California and nationwide. We handle class action defense, insurance bad faith matters with significant financial exposure, and cases involving novel coverage or extracontractual issues. The team also advises insurers on institutional practices and emerging risk.
Sheppard is a global Am Law 50 full-service law firm with over 1,200 attorneys across 16 offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. With approximately 250 Business Trial attorneys firmwide, litigation has been at the core of Sheppard’s practice since 1927. Our litigators possess exceptional trial and appellate skills, in-depth knowledge of state and federal courts at all levels, and practical judgement.
The Business Trial Practice Group is actively recruiting a Litigation Associate with at least 1 to 4 years of insurance litigation experience required.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Demonstrated outstanding academic performance
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, as well as attention to detail
A strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude
Exhibits initiative, reliability, and a constructive approach to challenges
Proven ability to take ownership of tasks and follow through
Insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, and/or class action experience required
Federal district or appellate clerkship is a plus
Resume, law school transcript, and a writing sample are required to apply. Candidates must be admitted to the California bar at the time of their application.
