Job Description
Rutan & Tucker, LLP is seeking an Intellectual Property Docket Supervisor. This is a full-time exempt position. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge and thorough understanding of domestic and international patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and docketing practices. Will be responsible for supervising a team of IP Docket Specialists. In addition to overseeing the IP Docketing team, the candidate will also be responsible for various tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
Review and docket incoming copyright and trademark prosecution correspondence from the USPTO, foreign associates and foreign trademark offices
Forward incoming correspondences to practitioners after they have been docketed
Maintain firm’s docket in an up-to-date fashion
Oversee the overall maintenance and supervision of the docketing system and docketing team
Audit docket matters
Develop and implement standardized docketing processes and procedures, including quality control processes
Serve as liaison between docketing department and practitioners
Serve as firm point of contact and liaison between docketing team and vendors (e.g. AltLegal, Anaqua, Foundation IP)
Generate daily, weekly, monthly and special docket reports
Process incoming and outgoing file transfers
Review daily dockets to confirm deadlines are timely met
Assist other docket specialists in double-checking to ensure all dates docketed by that specialist are accurate
Qualifications and requirements:
Expertise with USPTO, eTEAS, TARR and SAEGIS, PAIR, TESS, TSDR and TTAB systems.
Minimum of 4-6/7 years of comprehensive patent and trademark prosecution docketing experience
Prior experience using i-Manage FileSite and MS Excel required
At least two years of supervisory experience
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to interact with and manage personnel at all levels of the firm
Able to work in a team environment
Strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong verbal and written communication skills
The ability to manage time effectively under pressure

IP Docket Supervisor Salary Range:
Annual Salary Range: $110,000 – $135,000 depending on experience
