As a service offering built on top of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, it integrates award winning Oracle database technologies such as the Oracle Autonomous Database, Oracle Exadata and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) making them available to customers of all stripes both for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) as well as Data Warehousing workloads.

WHAT DO WE DO?
The Oracle DBaaS group builds and operates Oracle's DBaaS service offering on top of an extensive fleet of highly available, enterprise grade baremetal, virtual machine and exadata infrastructure.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for hands-on software engineers with a passion for solving complex problems in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI-driven automation. You will own the design, development, deployment, and operation of critical DBaaS components while driving AI enablement initiatives that improve SRE/Ops efficiency and developer productivity. You should be comfortable working across the software stack, applying strong engineering fundamentals to build scalable, reliable, and intelligent cloud services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* 10+ years of experience in delivering and managing highly scalable and highly available distributed systems.
* Strong knowledge of JAVA and object oriented programming is required.
* Strong knowledge of microservices, design pattern and databases.
* Good understanding of operating systems, virtualization and containers.
* Strong knowledge in data structures, algorithms and computer science fundamentals.
* Experience building AI-enabled developer tools, operational automation, or leveraging LLMs/GenAI in engineering workflows is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted software development tools is a plus.
* Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills at all levels of the stack.
* Ability to quickly respond to any alerts/incidents and provide initial triage or efficiently bring up to Operations staff.
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience as a software engineer/developer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the design and architecture of large-scale distributed DBaaS services.
- Design, develop, and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, performance, and reliability of Oracle DBaaS.
- Build AI-powered automation and developer productivity solutions to improve SRE/Ops efficiency, incident response, troubleshooting, and operational excellence.
- Research, prototype, and integrate AI technologies to accelerate engineering workflows and enhance cloud operations.
- Solve complex engineering problems and build automation to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.
- Participate in capacity planning, performance analysis, system tuning, and operational readiness.

Participate in periodic on-call duties and continuously improve operational tooling and automation.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and operating highly scalable cloud services and AI-enabled engineering solutions. You will define and implement software that improves developer productivity, operational efficiency, service reliability, and automation across Oracle DBaaS. As a leading contributor, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive engineering best practices while solving complex technical challenges in distributed cloud systems. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
