Job Description
This role builds major capabilities for Oracle Cloud’s pre-deployment safety platform, designing and implementing features for policy evaluation, operational risk checks, approvals, safe rollout, and multi-tenant service integration.
The engineer independently owns features within OCI deployment safety systems, partners with service teams, diagnoses complex deployment issues, and improves observability, capacity, resiliency, and operational readiness to reduce deployment risk and enable reliable release workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Software Development
- Design and implement major features in OCI deployment safety systems, including policy evaluation, risk checks, approvals, safe rollout, and service integration.
- Collaborate with service teams on middleware patterns, runtime interoperability, versioning, deprecation, and rollout approaches.
- Improve observability, reliability, and resilience for owned features and subsystems.
Software Development, Testing, and Optimization
- Design, implement, test, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable software features.
- Drive feature-level design, document technical decisions, and participate actively in code reviews.
- Debug and resolve complex issues in owned systems, APIs, and integrations.
- Implement functional and non-functional tests, logging, monitoring, and dashboards to improve operational readiness.
- Profile and optimize performance, capacity, and scalability; identify and mitigate risks within owned systems.
Architecture and Operations
- Contribute to the design and evolution of services and subsystems, seeking input from senior engineers for broader architectural decisions.
- Follow established architecture, security, and engineering standards; recommend practical improvements based on implementation experience.
- Participate in on-call, incident triage, root-cause analysis, and remediation for service issues.
- Build automation and operational improvements that reduce manual effort, improve availability, and reduce technical debt.
Collaboration and Growth
- Work independently on assigned projects while collaborating with partner teams on dependencies and integration decisions.
- Share technical knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to team engineering practices.
- Plan and deliver moderately complex work on time; escalate risks, blockers, and material trade-offs with clear options.
- Participate in hiring interviews and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
