The Opportunity

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems for the Acropolis management control plane of the Nutanix operating system.
- Develop and deliver end-to-end features that support scalability to millions of VMs across thousands of datacenter nodes.
- Drive architecture and implementation decisions with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Lead technical design discussions and evaluate trade-offs in distributed systems, clustering, and large-scale service architectures.
- Collaborate with geo-distributed teams to deliver projects with high quality, predictability, and ownership.
- Mentor and guide a team of 3–4 engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and best engineering practices.
- Take ownership of feature execution from design through deployment while maintaining a high-quality bar.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in designing and developing scalable distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant systems and associated design trade-offs.
- Strong knowledge of OS internals and systems-level architecture.
- Proven experience building and shipping production-grade backend services at scale.
- Ability to independently drive projects with strong ownership and execution skills.
- Excellent collaboration skills for working with globally distributed engineering teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to initiate, execute, and deliver complex features end-to-end.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- A master's degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred.
- 10+ years of industry experience in systems or platform engineering.
- Hands-on experience developing large-scale distributed platforms and infrastructure software.
