The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the firm’s financial records. This position is responsible for complex general ledger activity, reconciliations, payroll-related accounting, trust account transactions, expense review, internal audit support, and financial analysis. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments while ensuring compliance with firm policies and applicable regulatory requirements. And our rigorous standards assure you are part of a diverse team of top talent at every turn.If you’re someone who’s looking toward the future, we’d love to hear from you.Location: Rochester, NYAssist with the preparation and coordination of external audits.Full-charge bookkeeping for the firm’s subsidiaries including accounts payable and financial statement preparation.Point-person for capital spend, tracking, and analysis.Prepare and complete balance sheet account reconciliations accurately and timely.Prepare and complete bank account reconciliations accurately and timely.Audit, review, and approve employee expense reports in accordance with firm policies.Perform monthly internal audits; including related reporting, analysis, and follow-up.Prepare journal entries.Record and reconcile air and rail activity booked through the firm’s travel agency.Serve as point-person for U.S. Patent/Trademark accounting; import deposit account activity into ERP system.Process trust account transactions in compliance with applicable IOLTA regulations and firm policies.Serve as an expense management system administrator and monitor the firm’s email in box related to invoices and expenses.Monitor the firm’s Accounting help inbox and serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding the firm’s general ledger coding structure.Maintain the firm’s chart of accounts.Prepare quarterly financial statements for bank covenant reporting.Prepare monthly financial summary charts for partner memo.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.Collaborate with attorneys, administrative departments, and other firm personnel to resolve accounting-related questions and issues.Perform other duties as assigned.To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential job responsibility listed above, satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
