The Paralegal II - Community Development Finance (CDFN) is responsible for providing support and assistance to attorneys in the management, coordination, and administration of all aspects of the practice area within established administrative procedures. Successful candidates will have experience reviewing title commitments, surveys, and related title exception documents, familiarity with ALTA title and survey standards, and working knowledge of partnerships, limited liability companies, and tax credit or partnership syndications.A career at Nixon Peabody is the opportunity to do work that matters. And our rigorous standards assure you are part of a diverse team of top talent at every turn.If you’re someone who’s looking toward the future, we’d love to hear from you.Location: Boston, MA; Washington, DCAssist attorneys in the preparation, review, and management of legal documents related to real estate transactions, financing agreements, and community development projects.Conduct title, survey, and document review for development and financing transactions.Coordinate with lenders, government agencies, and other parties involved in development and finance deals.Understand due diligence and its purpose.Conduct basic legal research.Create and maintain email distribution lists, closing checklists and coordinate closings.Prepare signature page packets.Understand transaction documents, their purpose and contractual provisions in contracts.Familiarity with the tax credit industry, federal and state tax law issues and how they impact transactions at a basic level, and debtor/creditor issues.Complete projects within given deadlines.Provide status updates throughout the project.Coordinate projects with direct supervision from attorneys and senior paralegals on most matters.Stay current with basic concepts and continue education efforts.Perform other duties as assigned.
