Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and reporting on the firm's revenue, production, and financial performance metrics to support operational and strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Financial Analysis Manager, this role is responsible for routine reporting and ad-hoc reporting, bonus cycle calculations, assistance in the revenue budget compilation, year end statistical reporting and preparation of annual law firm surveys. This analyst works closely with Accounts Receivable, Billing, and practice group leadership to ensure complete and accurate data is provided for meaningful insight into firm performance. This position requires a strong understanding of the firm's data sources and metric definitions, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate across departments while meeting critical reporting deadlines. This team member must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, managing time-sensitive materials while maintaining strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.
***Salary in the range of $65,000 - $90,000 dependent on location and experience level***
Essential Job Duties:
Coordinate and perform monthly financial system close activities, including preparation and completion of financial system reconciliations, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Compile, analyze, and communicate routine financial results through reports and presentations tailored to diverse audiences across the firm.
Prepare and validate compensation and bonus cycle calculations in accordance with firm policies and approved methodologies.
Monitor and analyze departmental, practice group, office, and firmwide financial performance, identifying trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
Prepare and analyze ad hoc financial reports, models, and data analyses for attorneys, administrative departments, operational teams, and firm leadership to support business and strategic decision-making.
Prepare forecasts, trend analyses, and financial models to support firm planning, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
Compile and analyze the revenue budget using timekeeper data within the firm's budgeting software and input from leadership across the firm, ensuring alignment with the compensation budget.
Identify, recommend, implement and document process and reporting improvements by leveraging a comprehensive understanding of underlying business needs and financial information.
Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of financial databases and dashboards.
Monitor, validate, and reconcile dashboard data against the firm's financial management system (3E) to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.
Prepare annual law firm surveys as directed by firm leadership.
Coordinate and complete special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by Finance and Firm leadership.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field
3+ years of financial analysis, accounting, or related financial experience
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, administrative leadership, and cross-functional teams.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
Must be able to perform all essential duties
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in a law firm, professional services firm, or other partnership-based organization
Experience with 3E, AFS or Iridium
Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI
Experience utilizing SQL, data query tools, or reporting platforms to extract and analyze large datasets
Experience developing financial dashboards, databases, and reporting solutions
Knowledge of law firm financial metrics, including utilization, realization, productivity, leverage, and profitability
