ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Manager to support our M&BD Sectors team. This role will work closely with Sectors leadership team to develop and deliver marketing and business development activity aligned with the firm’s strategy and the group’s commercial priorities.
The Senior Manager will support the Head of M&BD - Sectors, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and portfolio management across the firm's sectors program. The role directly manages the Technology, Consumer, and Education sector teams while leading high-impact cross-sector initiatives, strategic events, and growth programs. Responsibilities include overseeing key market themes such as AI, data centers, digital infrastructure, and energy transition; driving cross-sector collaboration; streamlining processes and operating models; and ensuring effective execution of firmwide priorities.
As a trusted advisor and leader, the Senior Manager translates strategy into action, enabling greater alignment, efficiency, innovation, and measurable business impact across the global sectors portfolio. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with sector and firm leadership to develop and execute business development strategies, launch new client initiatives, and drive sustainable growth.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sectors M&BD team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Oversee the operations of the sectors program, including lateral attorney integration, business development coaching, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Translate market intelligence, industry trends, and competitive insights into actionable strategies that enhance the firm's positioning and uncover new opportunities.
- Provide strategic guidance and hands-on support to partners and the BD team in responding to high-impact pitches and RFPs by aligning client needs, competitive positioning, and differentiated firm value propositions.
- Support strategic client engagements and meetings by identifying growth opportunities, refining messaging, and developing tailored client strategies.
- Drive collaboration across sectors, practices, and regions by promoting best practices, knowledge sharing, and consistent operating standards.
- Lead strategic projects and special initiatives that advance the firm's sector objectives and strengthen overall business development effectiveness.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance processes, operating models, and ways of working to improve efficiency, scalability, and impact.
- Contribute to broader M&BD priorities and strategic initiatives as directed by the Head of M&BD – Sectors.
- All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Responsible Business Program.

QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS
- Excellent level of strategic and commercial awareness, with proactive mindset to help our lawyers spot and capitalize on opportunities.
- Demonstrated people management capabilities.
- Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.
- Proven ability to motivate and coach Business Team members to support the firm’s M&BD goals.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically and proactively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, excellent writing skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work products.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
- Experience of working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Seven (7)+ years of relevant experience required, preferably in the legal or professional services industry.
- One (1)+ year(s) of people management experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Degree in marketing, communications or related field is preferred
- Post-graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) advantageous.
- Established knowledge and experience of the life sciences and health care sector.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Must be flexible to work additional hours, as needed.
In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this role is $191,300 to $239,000 per year.
In Philadelphia, PA., the expected base salary range for this role is $182,700 to $228,300 per year.
This range reflects a good-faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses. Employees in this role are also eligible for benefits offered by the firm, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions, which currently include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; and paid time off.
