The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facility Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components). You'll provide daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.
You will develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.
As a Facilities Manager, you will lead and grow a large team overseeing 24/7 operations in our hyperscale data centers. You will ensure our server, storage, and networking systems meet stringent service level agreements and availability goals, all while upholding the highest environmental and safety standards at scale. In this role, you will drive efficiency, continuous improvements, and strategic initiatives to optimize costs and enhance overall data center performance, navigating both traditional and emergent challenges. This role involves regular travel between metro area sites, some regional and international travel (up to 10%), and participation in an on-call rotation to support our 24x7 business.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Netherlands: €114000 - €117000 (EUR) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Own campus operational budgets, conduct meticulous expense forecasting, and manage established budgets with a focus on total cost of ownership (TCO). Develop and implement cost-effective operational strategies.
Be accountable for meeting stringent internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for uptime, efficiencies, and cost. Oversee monitoring of data center systems, control site activities to minimize risk, and ensure effective response to any operational excursions.
Develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs and improve overall data center efficiency. Advocate the development of strategies to minimize environmental impact (WUE, PUE).
Oversee the swift management of data center performance issues and outages, implementing repair protocols in emergency situations to minimize recovery time from failures.
Ensure regional and global teams comply with project guidelines and design standards. Drive and uphold a strong safety culture at the site, identifying and mitigating risks.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in data center operations or other relevant operational experience in non data center industries.
5 years of experience managing technical teams and vendors in charge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls infrastructure and components.
Ability to communicate in English and Dutch fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience collaborating with other business units to meet company goals and standards.
Experience with change management initiatives and a track record of positively impacting team culture change.
Understanding of the operations and maintenance of electrical, control systems, and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
Ability to develop and grow team members, through coaching, mentoring, and training.
Ability to engage culturally with the local community.
Ability to travel on their own over the region and have a valid drivers licence.
