Software Engineer III, Laptops and Tablets Infrastructure

The next generation of ChromeOS has been built on top of Android and this has brought a lot of new elements of end-to-end device and OS development infrastructure with it. There are many opportunities to improve and scale the end-to-end infrastructure experience for internal users and external partners so that Google can efficiently and effectively develop and ship new Googlebooks and keep them updated with high-quality releases for many years to come.

In this role, you will be learning, exploring and innovating this complex space.The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Develop full stack web applications, backend systems, pipelines, or tools across varied codebases.

Focus on the team mission and flexibly go where needed to make an impact for internal users and external partners.

Develop ways to apply AI to increase team velocity, make our systems work more intelligently, and solve infra-related problems for our users.

Work on Integration testing, process automation, monitoring, and bug fixing.

Collaborate across teams as necessary.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

2 years of experience with software development using Java , Go or Python or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Experience with cloud technologies.

Experience with databases such as Postgres and MySQL.

Experience with software design and architecture.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

2 years of experience with software development using Java , Go or Python or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
