The 'forward deployed engineer' role, popularized by AI labs and data platforms, places an engineer inside a client's environment to write production code and adapt AI systems to how work actually gets done there, while also converting each engagement into reusable solution patterns. That blend of embedded engineering, customer leadership, and productizing one-off builds barely existed as a named job category a few years ago.

The opportunity
#TechnologyConsulting #AI
At EY Consulting, we help Technology companies transform through the power of people, technology, and innovation. Our AI Engineering and Solutions team builds Tech Sector Transformative solutions. These are production AI systems that change how software, cloud, semiconductor, cybersecurity, and digital-platform companies operate and grow.
As a Senior and Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will help build our FDE capability from the ground up. You will work alongside client teams, write production code, and deliver AI systems that fit how work gets done in the client environment. You will grow across four disciplines: software engineering, AI and platform fluency, sector knowledge, and customer leadership.
This role is not additional delivery capacity. It is a different kind of talent. Each engagement should create value that compounds: a project becomes a solution pattern, the pattern becomes a sector playbook, the playbook becomes a platform primitive, and the platform primitive becomes a competitive advantage for EY and our clients.
