Proposal and Editorial Specialist

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in more than 30 practice groups, is seeking a full-time Proposal and Editorial Specialist to join our Marketing Department. This position leads the firm's proposal and RFP response efforts, helping drive business development success through the creation of compelling, client-focused proposals, presentations, and marketing materials. The role manages the proposal process from strategy and content development through production and delivery, ensuring quality, responsiveness, and compliance with client requirements.

The Proposal and Editorial Specialist also serves as a key content resource for business development, creating and editing a variety of materials, including proposals, website content, brochures, presentations, attorney biographies, and other business development communications. The position leverages approved AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance content development, research, editing, and knowledge management processes while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with firm standards.

This is a hybrid opportunity that can be based in our Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse, New York office.

Key Responsibilities

Proposal & Business Development Support

• Lead the development of proposals, RFP responses, pitches, qualifications packages, and presentations.

• Research, gather, write, and edit content tailored to specific clients, industries, and opportunities.

• Collaborate with attorneys and subject matter professionals to develop compelling, client-focused responses.

• Manage proposal timelines and coordinate the review, production, and delivery process.

• Ensure quality control, brand consistency, and compliance with client requirements.

• Track proposal activity, analyze results, report on key metrics, and provide recommendations to improve outcomes.

Content Management & Technology

• Maintain marketing, proposal, and experience databases.

• Utilize approved AI tools to support research, writing, editing, and content customization.

• Develop efficient workflows and best practices for content development while validating AI-generated content for accuracy and compliance.

• Monitor emerging technologies and recommend improvements to marketing and business development processes.

Marketing & Communications Support

• Provide writing and editing support for marketing collateral, website content, attorney announcements, award submissions, and other communications.

• Assist with marketing events, webinars, sponsorships, and other firmwide business development initiatives as needed.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or a related field preferred.

• Experience in proposal development, business development, marketing, communications, or a related field.

• Previous experience responding to RFPs, RFIs, or professional services pursuits is strongly preferred.

• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and project management skills.

• Experience using AI-powered tools to support content development and business processes.

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Copilot) and experience with design and content development tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.

• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

• Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with attorneys and professional staff at all levels.

This position's salary range is between $70,000 to $85,000, negotiable based on years’ experience.
